Be salt and light for the world!

8 JUNE  2021  Tuesday 10

WORD of the DAY

Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”                                                               (Mt 5: 13-16)

How shall I live this Word?

What is the purpose of our ‘being’ and ‘being there’? Our aim is to give flavor, taste, and meaning to things, to keep the light on when the dark wants to invade. Our ‘being there’ must make things change in terms of quality by illuminating through our humanity which is “salt and light” so that those around us may “see our good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father”. It is the visibility of love which is indicative of Someone else. We are called to make visible the depth of things, the preciousness of creation, the dignity of life with what we are and what we live, leading our humanity to fullness, the only mediation to reach Him.

Lord Jesus, teach us to love each other with what we are, to give flavor, to enlighten, and to warm, so that our neighbor always feels loved.

The Voice of  Luigi Pirandello, Author

Do you know what it means to love humanity? It only means this: to be happy with ourselves. When one is happy with oneself, one loves humanity!
