CHRISTMAS JUST LIKE DON BOSCO’S

01 December 2017 Throughout the entire world, I have seen Salesians who defend children and young people from the many Herods of our day and who continue to dream,                                          guided by the angels, just like Don Bosco. Never before had the good citizens of Turin seen such a spectacle as they did in 1842. Along the elegant streets of Turin’s center city, a group of boys were singing a Christmas hymn and a priest was directing them! The music was a bit unsophisticated, but those boys sang it with so much love that it moved all who heard it. Don Bosco had no place to gather the boys to practice the song, so they practiced right in the streets – those streets that the boys knew so well. The hymn had even been written on a windowsill.           Those boys lived their Christmas walking, just like Jesus’ parents when they set out on a journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. There they experienced what it means to live in a foreign land: there was no room for them in the inn. The doors of the people’s homes were shut to them. Mary and Joseph share the fate of many refugees...

Vatican – Christmas Concert 2017: for Congolese children and Against Cyberbullying

21 November 2017 (ANS – Vatican City) – The traditional Christmas Concert is celebrating its 25 years this year; for the occasion, it returns to the Vatican with the support and patronage of the Congregation for Catholic Education. This great musical event will benefit two projects: the DON BOSCO IN THE WORLD Foundation, for the liberation of children exploited in the mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo; and the Pontifical Scholas Occurrentes Foundation, against cyberbullying. There is a close link between natural reserves and armed conflict. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) holds 80% of the world’s coltan reserves and 47% of th world’s cobalt reserves, two of the basic vital minerals for the production of electronic devices. In fact, in the DRC, the conflict related to the extraction of precious minerals has been going on since 1990. Some of the consequences of this conflict have been insecurity, corruption, violence, forced migration, abandonment of traditional activities to the advantage of mining and the illegal traffic of minerals … And, as usual, children pay the highest price. Faced with this reality, the DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation, in collaboration with the Salesians of the Central Africa Province, has launched its project, “Fight...

CHRISTMAS THURSDAY

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD CHRISTMAS THURSDAY December 29, 2016   WORD of the DAY But whoever keeps his word, the love of God is truly perfected in him. This is the way we may know that we are in union with him.    (1 John 2: 5)  How shall I live this Word? If there is an apostle whose words have the best guarantee of being the holy Truth it is precisely John, the youngest and dearest follower of Jesus.  How many of Jesus’ teachings he was able to listen to and deeply assimilate in his heart!  This is why we can be filled with joy when the passage says: God is truly perfected in him. What God wants from us is listening to His Word and living it.  This is living our days in the Light of the Word and thus living a Life of LOVE.   Our heart can be continually assured if we do this.  We will be in Christ Jesus; life will be illumined in His and will find its meaning.  We will have the energy needed to give of ourselves in our family, at work, and everywhere.  It is the life style of...
