The Foundations of Science A Catholic Elementary School Science Curriculum The Foundations of Science series introduces children to the wonders of the natural world in light of God’s providential care over creation, and the first 4 volumes are releasing over the course of the 2021-22 academic year. Foundations of Science covers an extensive scope of scientific studies, from animals and plants, to the depths of the ocean and the marvels of our planet. Still more, it reveals the intricate order found beneath the surface of creation and chronicles many of the Church’s contributions to science throughout history. The first volume, Animals: Creatures of the Wild, offers a tour of the animal kingdom and the habitats in which mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, insects, and fish live and thrive. Children will discover how animals find and hunt for food, how and why they live in concert with other animals, why they migrate or hibernate, and more. What do animals have to do with our Catholic Faith? How is virtue similar to the protective exoskeleton of some insects? And how does a lesson on reptiles lead to a discussion of Mary’s battle with Satan from Genesis to Revelation? The accompanying video lecture series connects lessons from the textbook to truths about faith,...

Women Deserve Better Than the False Promises of Contraceptive Culture

I’ve written in the past about my four miscarriages and low hormones that have been a chronic problem for me. Natural Procreative Technologies (NaPro) helped for a while, but eventually I developed severe side effects from my hormone treatments. This led me to have to end the shots that were helping treat my low estrogen […] Source: Women Deserve Better Than the False Promises of Contraceptive...

Timeless Moral Truth Remains a Matter of Fact

The Facts of Life: Morality In our modern world, almost nothing is more provocative than insisting on the existence of moral truths. Insisting that moral principles are factual and provable truths that provide clear standards for all human behavior and attitudes, all human emotions and thinking, all human aspirations and ambitions, is oddly a sin of […] Source: Timeless Moral Truth Remains a Matter of...

Amy Coney Barrett from Family Policy Alliance

Amy Coney Barrett is a unicorn to the left; To us, she’s the future Friends, In just four days, the full U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Judge Barrett’s confirmation would mark a sea change for conservative women of faith: her nomination sent a clear message of support for those who value their faith, family, and conservative values in addition to their careers. Amy Coney Barrett is a unicorn to the left; To us, she’s the future By Sonja Swiatkiewicz, Amanda Banks, Meridian Baldacci, Autumn Leva To the Left, Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a unicorn — she’s not supposed to exist. A woman isn’t supposed to achieve her dreams of professional success without aborting children — let alone with seven children. A person of faith isn’t supposed to possess the intellectual legal prowess to graduate summa cum laude from a prestigious law school, become a judge on a federal appellate court, or be nominated to the nation’s highest court. But to us, Judge Barrett is the future. All four of us are professional women, working in the traditionally male-dominated fields of law, policy, and politics. All...

Because the Soul of our Nation is at Stake

Considering Catholic Morality: One Month Before the Election By Fr. Steve Ryan, SDB During this critical election, please pray for our nation, candidates and electorate. So… I’ve viewed statements and videos from various bishops and priests about the role of the Church as we head into the elections. Some were a bit wimpy; some were ok. Few were strong enough – so I’ll write something. I’ll start with this: As Catholics, remember that moral issues are hugely important. It’s not “just the economy” that is a concern when we go to the polls. Christian morality has always been fundamental to the roots and foundation of the United States. It’s okay to tell people that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and that these values were embraced by our Founding Fathers as the path that would make our democratic nation outstanding. We were not founded to be a purely secular state and certainly not an atheist one. Christian morality has always been at the heart of American life. Please feel obliged to speak about moral issues that are truly important in our nation. Issues like – the right to life in the womb, the education of our children, the importance...

Sick and Tired of Lies!

Here are some current events articles that share some Church news. Some is good news and some is bad news. The good news is that our Church is working hard to save souls. The bad news is that the mainstream media wants to take the Church down.    PPP Money Given to Catholic Church Paid Salaries – Associated Press Filed a False Story By Fr. Steve Ryan, SDB Last week, the Associated Press published a ridiculous article, heavy on innuendo, about Catholic dioceses, parishes, schools and other Catholic charitable organizations, that rightly received assistance from the federal government to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis.   The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was designed to help employers continue to pay their employees when the economy went into lockdown in response to the coronavirus. The purpose was to keep employees employed during these difficult times. Religious institutions were invited and permitted to participate, as they employ hundreds of thousands of people across the country.   Without assistance from the PPP, churches would have had no choice but to lay off their employees, reducing their ability to assist people in need and forcing their staff to seek unemployment. The PPP money did not...
