International Convention on Fr. Paul Albera

26 October 2021 (ANS – Rome) – An International Convention dedicated to Fr Paul Albera, Don Bosco’s 2nd successor at the head of the Congregation, will take place on 30 – 31 October to commemorate the first centenary of his death (as he died at Turin-Valdocco, 29 October 1921). Promoted and organized by the Salesian Historical Institute (ISS) and the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in this special year that the Rector Major has dedicated to Fr Albera, the conference will be held in mixed mode, with participation in physical presence at UPS and via live streaming with English translation of the work shops. Way of Light – good idea for our Easter journey

The Way of the Cross has already spread around the Catholic Church throughout the world for centuries and become ‘a must’ even for any small out-station, mission station in the bush. But there is also the 33-year-old ‘Way of Light’ – one of the finest visible fruits of the Salesian Charism. It originated in one of the lay groups of the Salesian Family – ‘The Witnesses of the Risen Lord’ (TR) – in 1988, on the occasion of Don Bosco’s 100th anniversary of his death and the first art-pieces of the 14 stations can be found in the Catacombs of St Callixtus (Rome) or at Colle Don Bosco (Becchi, Italy).        The Via Lucis (Way of Light) has already spread around the Salesian Family in all continents, but we don’t find many ‘life size’ presentations of its stations that help us to pray this wonderful ‘devotion’. Former provincial of Southern Africa (AFM – South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini), Fr Francois Dufour) is among the enthusiastic advocates of ‘Via Lucis’. After he published the ‘African version’ in 1998 (Johannesburg), they found their way to other African provinces even beyond the Salesian family. And now you may it find...
