Seventh Wednesday of Easter

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Seventh Wednesday of Easter Time  June 5, 2019  WORD of the DAY  Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock of which the holy Spirit has appointed you overseers,   in which you tend the church of God that he acquired with his own blood.  (Acts 20: 28 )   How shall I live this Word? We are still accompanied by Paul’s word to Miletus, to the elders of Ephesus. He is closing his discourse and gives them the word ‘watch’. So much courage, so much movement, so much ability to unhinge the usual, the blasphemous, and the superficial is not born in him from foolishness. It is the work of the Spirit that asks to be guarded. Watching becomes the basic action with which to protect the erupting novelty of the Gospel, not to force it or reduce it, but that it may not be extinguished or contaminated. So many times watching, supervising involve actions of containment, control (think of the assistants, of those who supervise the children at school recess, for example, who have as their sole concern that they do not do damage).
