Mother Ida Grasso, FMA – RIP

Autobiography of Sr. Ida Grasso, FMA I was born on February 19, 1925 in Bra (CN) Province of Cuneo – Italy, the second child of Giovenale and Domenica Gancia. Dad was an employee of the State Railways. A few months after my birth, he was offered a promotion in recognition of his having fought in the First World War; but this promotion required our family’s transfer to Trieste. Here my brother Roberto was born after about a year. Due to the strong Trieste wind, the ‘bora’, which is not conducive to children’s health, our family moved to Gorizia and stayed there for about ten years. Here I attended elementary school until fourth grade. In August 1932, my little sister was born, Immacolata and in 1934 the last child in our family, Luciana, was born and was baptized in May when my brother and I received First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The family consisted of Dad, Mom, and their five children. We lived in an atmosphere of simple but strong faith, serenity, and intense affection. My parents were demanding as regards good education and conduct of life, while at the same time understanding and open to listening. They accompanied us...
