A motto and a logo on the road to canonization of Artemides Zatti

02 September 2022 (ANS – Rome) – Animating a historic event for the Salesian Congregation and Family, such as the canonization of Artemide Zatti, requires an image and a phrase that are able to accompany on the path of preparation and during the event itself. Thus, on the part of the General Postulation of the Congregation, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni invited a team of Salesians and lay people, both from Italy and Argentina, to think together about a motto and a logo that would express as clearly as possible the radiant and at the same time simple figure of Artemide Zatti. After several suggestions of possible mottos, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, together with the Postulator General, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, presented the canonization motto “I believed, I promised, I was healed”. Almost all of the proposals had as a common basis these three words uttered by the future saint when bearing witness to his miraculous recovery from tuberculosis and, consequently, the origin of his vocation to serve the sick and the poor. They are three verbs that mark a spiritual journey of abandonment into God’s hands and dedication to the good of others. He, who was healed, would now...

Argentina – The believing Br. Zatti

06 September 2022 (ANS – Buenos Aires) – In view of the canonization of Artemides Zatti, SDB, we share some articles of reflection and investigation on some traits of the future saint, prepared by the Salesian Bulletin of Argentina, the country where “the relative of the poor” lived his entire Salesian life. “There are as many stories of faith as there are believers, since each one gives himself with his own personality.” Romano Guardini (The Life of Faith) The vital act of faith is the personal story of the believer. If we say that at the roots of faith is a gift from God, we must also make sure that this gift is received by a person. Therefore, we need to know who the person is and his or her personality, because that is where his or her faith resides. Faith as personal adherence to God has been a personal story for Zatti, leading him to holiness in concrete work, in caring for the sick, in the world of health care. “I believed, I promised, I was healed” Zatti’s Christian faith began with his baptism in Boretto, near Reggio Emilia, in the basilica of San Marco on the same...

When Mr. Peter Kovac, Slovakian Salesian Past Pupil and secretary of the SDB Past Pupil World Council, came to know of this project, he organized an alliance with Mr. Phaisan to grow Di BOSCo into a world-wide network of Past Pupil fair trade coffee and cocoa growers, processors, exporters, and café owners in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. Now Di BOSCo is ready to come to Canada and the US with the help of our Salesian Family members and friends. Peter will explain how this network came to be and how we can make it a reality for North America at this gathering. For whom is the gathering?
