Salesian Cooperator Vocation grows by attraction

EAO Salesian Cooperators Workshop (III)By Japanese Cooperator GroupSihanoukville, Cambodia, 27 May 2019 — At the end of our 4 days Formators Workshop I’m reflecting on the fruits and wisdom for the future path of the Salesian Cooperators in our EAO Region and especially in Japan. We (Japan) were only a small group, but comprising one FMA Delegate, one SDB Delegate, ASC provincial coordinator and another ASC provincial council member.Surely, there was very valid and fruitful long term preparation for this Workshop involving many Delegates and Salesian Cooperators with their interview and publishing of the ’50 Interviews related to the Formation of Salesian Cooperators’ (160 pages) representing the whole picture of the large variety of EAO Salesian Cooperators. Moreover, during our stay within the Don Bosco Hotel School in Sihanoukville we experienced the very positive experience of communion and fraternity among the 58 participants from 11 different countries. Personal attention, interaction with the students and staff, continuous involvement of the 6 SDB of local community and their 8 lay missionary volunteers will be not forgotten back in our provinces. All participants, especially our team from Japan were enriched by a new awareness about the importance and urgent need of quality inspiring...

Facilitator is the Holy Spirit

EAO Salesian Cooperators Workshop (II)By Fr. Dominic Suphot, SDBEAO regional delegate for the Salesian CooperatorsSihanoukville, Cambodia, 26 May 2019 — During the second and third day of the EAO Salesian Cooperators Formators Workshop in Cambodia (Sihanoukville, May 24-27), all 58 participants from 11 EAO countries are invited to take the path of discernment. The participants spend most of the time in personal, group reflection and assembly sharing, always keeping in mind the workshop’s initial inspiration – to be guided by the Holy Spirit.Under the animation of the EAO World Councillor (2014-2020) Mr Philip Yu, the threefold basic convictions are guiding the reflection: Formation means the ongoing response to the call (vocation) of God. The response is possible only with the Holy Spirit – the main facilitator of good formation. Without an open heart there is no effective formation. The key to the heart of the Salesian Cooperation is charity, listening and accompaniment. Moreover, full commitment to the reflection and group sharing is requested. In the large conference hall on the second floor of the Don Bosco Hotel School (Director: Br. Martin Tai) each participant shares his / her insights on small colour notes, emerging through attentive listening to each other...
