Now Di BOSCo is ready to come to Canada and the US with the help of our Salesian Family members and friends. “Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival”: The Party has Begun! – KNOW THE FACTS

18 November 2021 (ANS – Rome) – As for the New Year’s Eve, so too for the “Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival”, the party advances to the rhythm of the sun and covers the planet’s various time zones to join young people from all over the world in a single voice of hope. In Oceania and in countries where the 18 November was the first to begin, screenings and events are already underway to celebrate and reward the creativity and commitment of the youth to this global Salesian film initiative. Over 270 locations are registered in 50 different countries across all continents, where the “Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival” will be celebrated. These are schools, oratories, parishes and educational centers of various kinds, where giant screens or digital links have been set up to finally allow viewers to watch and admire the festival’s finalists. The size of the events are different – depending on the contexts in which the Salesians work and the different anti-contagion health security measures adopted by the national authorities. The common element will be the ingredients that will accompany the celebration, which are also typical of Salesian youth gatherings: cheerfulness, dances, songs, moments of fraternity...

SYM echoes the message of the Pope for the XXXVI WYD

04 October 2021 Photo ©: Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life (ANS – Rome) – On 22 November 2020 Pope Francis called for a relaunch of the celebration of WYD in the particular Churches. He announced that this celebration which has been traditionally held on Palm Sunday, starting in 2021 will be held on the Sunday of the Solemnity of Christ the King. On 14 September 2021, in his message for the WYD 2021, he invited all the young people to “ARISE” presenting the reflections on the conversion story of St. Paul. He also appreciated the contribution of young people during the pandemic days of sowing seeds of hope, upholding freedom and justice, and acting as peacemakers and bridge builders. He is convinced that today Christ speaks to the young people the same words that he spoke to Paul: ‘Arise! Do not remain downcast or caught up in yourself: a mission awaits you! You too can testify to what Jesus has begun to accomplish in your lives’. Following the message of Pope Francis, the Councillor for Youth Ministry Fr Miguel Angel Garcia Morcuende, along with the coordinator for Salesian Youth Movement Fr Patrick Anthonyraj, invite and encourage all the young...

Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival: Ambassadors of Hope to the Young

Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival Reaching out the young to become ambassadors of hope   Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF) is the first worldwide festival from the Salesian Congregation to unite all our young people globally to come together on a common project where they can express their creative talents and be rewarded. This festival is our own festival, and is a precious opportunity to make the name of Don Bosco resonate in the 134 countries where we are present, especially in the hearts and minds of the young people. The festival screening will take place on Thursday and Friday, 18 & 19 of November 2021. DBGYFF is structured as a creative global platform, through which young people from all over the world can showcase and build their dreams and aspirations. Inspired by the Strenna of our Rector Major,  “Moved by hope”, it is a clarion call to encourage young people to become ambassadors of hope, and agents of transformation in our society.  This film festival is indeed a gracious opportunity to go closer to the young, to encourage them and motivate them towards the common good. It is an excellent tool to focus on what matters to...
