Fourth Wednesday in Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Wednesday, February 3, 2016 Fourth Week in Ordinary Time   From the Word of the Day The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.  When David saw the angel who was striking the people, he said to the Lord: “It is I who have sinned; it is I, the shepherd, who have done wrong. But these sheep, what have they done? Strike me and my father’s family!”  (2 Samuel 24: 16-17) How should we live this Word  David had committed sins of pride and presumption.  In his great thirst for power, he becomes curious to know the number of the population over whom he reigned.  However, after he had obtained the exact information of those subject to him, he had remorse of heart for his errant behavior and asked the Lord to remove his guilty conscience because “I have committed great foolishness”.
