04 February 2022 (ANS – Rome) – Among the many initiatives that this year intend to help rediscover the figure of Saint Francis de Sales on the fourth centenary of his death, there is one designed for the ordinary rhythm of life of the Salesian communities. There are 5 videos lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, which are well-suited to the time usually used for spiritual reading and bedtime. They will be shared throughout the year on a bimonthly basis. It is a project carried out together by the Youth Ministry of the Special Circumscription of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta (ICP) and the Formation Sector of the Salesian Headquarters with the technical support of the ICP Social Communication office. Guiding those interested in this journey is Fr Michele Molinar, Provincial Vicar and Delegate for Formation of ICP, who for many years has been guiding groups of the Salesian Family to discover their charismatic roots through pilgrimages to the Salesian places in Haute-Savoie, inhabited by St. Francis by Sales. Just as Don Bosco wanted to impress a “strong thought” on his boys, so the Rector Major today must also be able to ascertain whether the thread that binds the 32 Groups to common inspiration is sufficiently robust, to ensure unity of purpose, and long enough, to envelop a reality extended to 134 countries. With little more than a week to go before this important event (January 13-16, 2022) which will gather, in person and in digital mode, thousands of members of the groups of the great tree planted by Don Bosco starting from the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales, the Secretariat for the Salesian Family has announced the detailed program of the appointments: a program rich in events, opportunities for reflection and deepening, moments of communion, sharing and spirituality. Following the scheme that proved to be very effective last year, the SFSD 2022 foresee a double level of participation with live broadcasting on each of the four days from 13:00 to 15:00 (UTC + 1) of the worldwide appointments, and the creation of complementary activities at the regional level, managed with different times and methods, by the respective teams. 24 December 2021 (ANS – Rome) – Everything is now ready: on Monday, 27 December 2021, the Salesian Family from all over the world will be able to watch the official presentation of the Strenna of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, for the year 2022. The theme of the message, already announced months ago – “Do all through love, nothing through constraint” – is inspired by St. Francis de Sales, on the 400th anniversary of his death, and will be accompanied by the traditional video. As per tradition, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Father and Center of Unity of the Salesian Family, will be the first to deliver his message of the Strenna for the new year to the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians at their Generalate. Fr Á.F. Artime will illustrate the message and the preview video to the new FMA Mother General, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, and to a small group of her sisters.
