New learning platform takes Don Bosco’s educational mission online 26 April 2021 (ANS – Paris) – In Don Bosco’s time, once a school was founded, the main technological challenge consisted in guaranteeing the quality and distribution of printed material. Today the challenge is for every student to have access to a digital learning platform with all the essential features required for high-quality online education. To address this challenge, Don Bosco Intuition Entertainers Media, an international NGO, has been commissioned by the province of FRB, headed by provincial, Daniel Federspiel, to develop several digital solutions. Along with their partner Cagliero Creative Solutions, they have developed CaglieroLMS, a learning management system platform specifically designed for state-of-the-art online education. The presentation of this innovative project is scheduled for next May 1st and will see the participation of the General Councilor for Social Communication, Fr Gildásio Mendes.   “Cagliero Creative Solutions” is quickly gaining international recognition having already developed products for various companies and organizations, co-producing products with entities like BoscoSoft and EsaCineTech. CaglieroLMS was designed specifically for the Don Bosco Network of Schools and Technical Centers and is capable of managing a single school or a network of institutions. Beatification of Carlo Acutis (1991-2006) coming soon By our own correspondent Rome, 24 September 2020 — The beatification of 15-year-old Italian youngster Carlo Acutis on 10 October 2020 in Assisi is fast approaching. Born in London on 3 May 1991 he died of leukemia on 12 October 2006. He spent all his school life in Milan. Carlo was best known for documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world and cataloguing them all on a website that he himself created in the months before his death from leukemia, but he started the ‘collection’ of the Eucharistic miracles site when he was 11. The Eucharistic website is available today in 18 languages, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Tagalog. His simple, deeply convinced Christian life is characterized by his sayings: “Non io ma Dio” (Not me, but God), “Tutti nasciamo originali, molti moriamo fotocopie” (All of us are born as original, but many die as photocopies) and “L’Eucaristia è la mia autostrada per il cielo” (The Eucharist is my highway to heaven). He was good at football, but especially passionate as a digital native and a fervent but delicate apostle of his peers. Acutis was worried about those friends of his whose parents were...
