WORD of the DAY

After this, Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself in this way. Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We also will come with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?” They answered him, “No.” So he said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something.” (John 21: 1-14)

How shall I live this Word?
The dogma of fundamental faith of our creed, the resurrection of the Lord, is the most difficult to accept, the most contrary to the evidence and ‘common sense’, the most distant from our experience. This is why we need to hear it repeated and to feel its significance on our skin, it is not enough that we have talked about it or that we have a brief knowledge of it. It is necessary that Jesus manifests Himself as “Lord” also for us, and not just once but many times, every day! We need a burning hearth like the embers, an allegory of life that continues under the ashes. We need to sate ourselves with the ‘well cooked’ food that is Christ Himself, offered as real nourishment for the world, as the dawn that accompanies all the nights of human beings, when the illusions of the darkness and the whims of the human will are dissipated and clothed in Him!

Beside and beyond our efforts of evangelization, the Lord is the protagonist, the author, and the promoter of salvation. Without Him we are like branches without sap. Today I want to ask myself about the plan that God has on others, on those who, not by chance, I find myself next to, and I will ask myself if my heart is able to feel how He feels, to love and welcome them as He does.
