FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD

Monday – Week Six
WORD of the DAY
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore. (Mark 8: 11 – 13)
How shall I live this Word?
Why did these doctors of the law not understand the signs of the time and ask for an extraordinary sign? First of all, because they were closed. They were locked in their system. All the Jews knew what should be done, what should not be done, but they did not understand that God is the God of surprises, that God is always new. He never denies Himself, never says that what He said was wrong, never, but He always amazes us. Moreover, they had forgotten that they were a people on a journey. When you are on the road, you always find new, unimaginable realities.
Lord Jesus, You ask me if I am attached to my things, to my ideas, or if I am open to the God of surprises that He proclaims and witnesses.
The Voice of Khalil Gibran, poet
…And if you could keep the wonder of your heart before the daily miracles of your life, your suffering will seem no less wonderful than your joy.
