FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
March 24, 2021
Fifth Wednesday of Lent
WORD of the DAY
Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
How shall I live this Word?
It is only the truth that sets us free, the truth lived, cultivated, witnessed. Because we are truly free only when we learn not to lie to ourselves and to others, when we decide to throw away all the masks we wear every day, by choice or convenience, when we opt not to hide who we really are, even if we don’t like it. We are truly free when we do not want to make peace with our limitations and defects, but we recognize them, accept them, and try to overcome them. We are totally free when we do not say false things that harm and hurt others, creating divisions, suffering, and discontent. Our God is the God of truth and not of lies, the God of clarity and not of subterfuge, and He teaches us to love all that is beautiful and true.
Lord Jesus help us to LOVE and to seek the truth in our life, in our words, in our gestures, in our affections, in the certainty that this is what You desire for each one of us.
The Voice of Fr. Luigi Maria Epicoco
Jesus speaks clearly, and the Truth He proclaims to us, which is the Truth of a liberating Love, introduces us to a great freedom that no politics, no culture, no mentality in the world can really give us. And above all, it tells us something that is not insignificant, namely that Truth exists, despite the fact that the most popular sport is to deny its existence and leave oneself at the mercy of the dictatorship of opinions.
