Sunday – Week Four
Feast of St. John Bosco
WORD of the DAY
Then they came to Capernaum, and on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” (Mark 1: 21-25)
How shall I live this Word?
“Jesus taught” (Mk 1:21) The content of His teaching is not declared here, but one thing is certain: His word accomplishes what He says. And what does He accomplish? The extermination of evil and the liberation of humanity from the spirit of evil. Jesus does not speak like the others, He speaks with His actions and Jesus’ ‘powerful actions are His “teaching as one having authority”. Liberation from evil: this is the content of the plan that Jesus reveals and for which He came. Free ourselves from evil to open the way to God.
Jesus, your Word works in us liberation from evil: increase in us the awareness of Your Presence, enlighten our mind and our heart to let us be seized by Your love. Increase faith and wonder in us!

We have as a principle that always, when something turns to the good of souls, one is certain that it comes from God, and cannot come from the devil
