FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
MARCH 15, 2023
THIRD WEDNESDAY OF LENT
WORD of the DAY
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. (Matthew 15: 17)
“How shall I live this Word?
The law commands what increases life and forbids what diminishes it. The law proposes, indicates, and imposes itself from the outside. It shows the good, the implementation of the good, and denounces transgressions, condemning their evil. But the law does not save anyone. Jesus will fulfill the law and those who reminded of the law. He brings it to completion because He opens the ways of the heart. He becomes man and will give body to the law and the prophets and will fill us with His Spirit. He is the aim of the law and of the prophets, in fact, He lives the Word given to Moses and recalled by the prophets. He is the Son who fulfills the Will of the Father. The Son fulfills the Father’s will by loving His brothers and sisters. thus, the law comes to life! The love that Jesus gives us will transform the external law into need, which starts from the heart. Here is the fulfillment: love!
O Spirit of God, make us capable of living the relationship with God not governed by rules, but urged by love!
The Voice of Marco Frisina, Priest Musician
We are not the ones to judge the observance of these precepts, but it is up to us to make ourselves loving companions of our brothers and sisters on the common journey, so that the Law of love is fulfilled in the Love of Christ which shines in the communion of His Church.
