Love will save us

27 OCTOBER 2021

30th Wednesday of Ordinary Time

WORD of the DAY

Jesus passed through towns and villages,  teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.

Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” He answered them,

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.                     (Luke 13: 22-24)

How shall I live this Word?

As Jesus walks, He teaches.  Jesus is always walking and the lesson is His journey towards Jerusalem where the God’s Love will be revealed that excludes no one, but is merciful to everyone.

“Lord, will only a few people be saved?”  Are  they many or few?  Salvation is the fruit of our surveys, of our abilities, no one can save themselves.  We are all saved through the gratuitous love of the Father.  The gate is narrow for those who want  to save themselves.  A struggle is needed, an effort is needed  to keep the heart and hand open to receive this gratuitous gift.  We have the responsibility of living as though all depended on us, while knowing that all depends on God.

Lord, convert my heart and mind to learn to live in humility the gift of Your mercy.

The Voice of  Psalm 107

Give us aid against the foe;

worthless is human help.

We will triumph with the help of God,

who will trample down our foes.
