The “vast movement for the salvation of the young” has grown to include numerous groups which work in harmony with the Official ones to do Don Bosco’s work in the world. Some do so at home among the young, their peers, and/or the poor. Others do this through voluntary service in the foreign Missions. Although they can never be recognized as official Groups of the Family since their members lack the criterion of a vowed or promised life-long commitment, still they spread the Salesian charism throughout the world through their generous and faith-filled service and action.
