PROCLAIM JESUS TO THE WORLD!

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
7 December 2024
St. Ambrose
First Saturday of Advent

WORD of the DAY
Then he summoned his Twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness. (Matthew 10: 1)

How shall I live this Word?

Jesus calls to Himself and sends. He calls the disciples, who have learned to know Him to become “apostles”, sent to their brothers and sisters. Being with Jesus, learning to think, feel like Him, is always in order to be “sent to the others”.
Vocation and mission are always combined. Being a disciple is realized in mission, in being an apostle. We can also say that being children in the Son makes us brothers and sisters and sends us to others. Only communion with Jesus and among ourselves, fraternity, the good that is born from loving well, is able to cure infirmities, has the power to win and free from evil. The mission lived in Jesus is essentially an exorcism: the Word and Love overcome lies and selfishness.

Lord Jesus, THANK you for giving us your Spirit, making us children of God, freeing us from the power of darkness, calling us to you so that we can be your witnesses. Through Your grace we were created by Love, for love, and with love, and we are made to love. Only love conquers evil, this is our hope! May the great father Ambrose bless us and support us!

The voice of Pope Francis Spes non Confundit

This Holy Year can be for all a time of living and personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, door of salvation. With Him, the Church has the mission of proclaiming always, everywhere, and to everyone, ‘what is our hope’.
