WORD of the DAY

He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16: 15)

How shall I live this Word?

“Proclaim the Gospel to every creature”, because we have received it and when you have a great gift in your hands and heart you cannot keep it for yourself but you must give it generously.

Like that couple who has enlarged their home to welcome many children in difficulty and make them feel the warmth of a real family, or like those parents who have welcomed the seriously disabled son that God has given them and are making him grow happy, or those men and women who help lonely and elderly people do their shopping, keep them company, and do not leave them at the mercy of loneliness, or like the many young volunteers who bring the life of God, joy, enthusiasm, friendship and much more to the oratories, hospitals, schools.

We must first proclaim the Gospel here and now, in our daily actions, in our city, with our friends, and with our lives.

Teach us, Lord, to love our neighbors, those who live next to us, those we do not like, and grant that we may bring joy, consolation, and help to everyone.

The voice of Pope Francis (Address to the participants in the International Congress on “Deus caritas Est”).
Every form of love, solidarity, sharing is only a reflection of that charity which is God. He, without ever getting tired, pours out His charity on us and we are called to become witnesses of this love in the world. Therefore we must look to divine charity as the compass that guides our life, before starting any activity: there we find the direction, from it we learn how to look at our brothers and sisters and the world. ”
