FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
Second Thursday of Easter Time
May 2, 2019
WORD of the DAY
For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. (John 3: 34-36)
How shall I live this Word?
Among the encounters of Jesus, one of the most fascinating and mysterious is that with Nicodemus, who goes to the Teacher by night and asks Him profound, existential questions. John notes everything in his Gospel and it seems that the disciple whom “Jesus loved” was a curious spectator of that nocturnal incursion, the theme of the interview, once again, the love of the Father, who “loves the Son and has given everything over to Him”. It is also the unique bond between the Father and Jesus that gives eternal life to those who believe in Him. That night for Nicodemus was a bright night which revealed to him the depth of the Trinitarian love, the power and tenderness of a God who knows how to bring new birth from above.
Today we will pray like this: Lord, our God, you love your Son and you have given Him everything. Help us to welcome His testimony that leads to eternal life.
The Voice of Psalm 33
I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall be always in my mouth.
My soul will glory in the LORD;
let the poor hear and be glad.
Magnify the LORD with me;
and let us exalt His name together.
