FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
Second Tuesday of Easter Time
April 30, 2019
WORD of the DAY
The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. (Acts 4: 32-33)
How shall I live this Word?
The Christian community presented by the Acts of the Apostles has all the colors of Springtime, the freshness of a new reality that imbues all its members with the perfume of Christ. Sharing is the root of relationships. The word ‘synodal’ was not well known in those times, but in fact, the first Christians walked together. The apostles took strength from the primitive community and those who observed this reality expressed great esteem for them, saying of their unique way of being together, “Look how they love each other”. The commandment of Jesus kept its extreme actuality among those who had lived close to Him.
Are we able to say the same of our communities? Yet, we too believe in the message of Jesus, “Blessed are those who believe without seeing”. We are certain that He walks with us as He promised to do. And it is precisely from His presence that the possibility comes of being ‘of one heart and mind’.
The Voice of Pierangelo Sequeri, Singer
In Your Word I will walk
Until I have breath, as long as You want
I will not be afraid, You know, if You are with me.
I ask my mind for the courage to seek
I ask my hands for the strength to give
I ask my uncertain heart for passion for life
And I ask you brother to believe with me.
