FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD
SEVENTH THURSDAY OF EASTER TIME
May 28, 2020
WORD of the DAY
He raised his eyes to heaven and said…“I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.” (John 17, 20-21)
How shall I live this Word?
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus prays for the unity of his disciples, among themselves and with Him, so that everyone may believe: the presupposition of faith is the testimony of unity.
Unity is believing in the one Lord Jesus Christ, while maintaining one’s own characteristics and diversity.
Unity is to be faithful to His Word and to His Gospel, with the simple and peaceful heart of those who have met God.
Unity is to participate, to feel as family and to make a home, to feel part of a big dream of many faces dreamed by God.
Unity is to live solidarity that brings together what we are and what we have, because we are all children of the same Father.
Unity is taking care of each other because being a family requires mutual care and dedication.
Unity is to live far away but with a heart united in the only gift that Jesus left us, the Eucharist!
Lord, give us Your Holy Spirit so that we may know, live, and build true unity in our daily life.
The voice of Chiara Lubich, Founder of the Focolari Movement
Unity! but who can venture to talk about it? It is ineffable like God! You can hear it, see it, enjoy it, but… it is ineffable! Everyone enjoys its presence, everyone suffers from its absence. It is peace, joy, love, ardor, an atmosphere of heroism, of supreme generosity. It is Jesus among us!
