Eighth Tuesday of Ordinary Time

 FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Tuesday  May 29, 2018 Week Eight of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   Peter began to say to him, “We have given up everything and followed you.”   (Mark 10: 28)    How shall I live this Word? Jesus invites his disciples, who have left everything and followed Him – as Peter says – to be faithful to the vocation received: this also involves persecution and difficulties, but the goal is heaven. The condition is certainly hard: to renounce all goods to be his disciples (cf. also Luke 14: 33) and follow Him to the cross.  Yet this is not the conclusion to everything but is realized in view of a greater good. When God asks us for something, He does it for the best: He never lets himself be outdone in generosity, because He loves us, and  in the end He welcomes us into His love and joy. Renunciation is never an end in itself, but always for a greater good: God loves us, we need to allow ourselves to be attracted by His love, knowing that our joy and our happiness are only in Him.  The voice of Pope Francis – Angelus,...
