Learn from Creation

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 34th Friday of Ordinary Time November 27, 2020 WORD of the DAY  He taught them a lesson. “Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.  Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (Luke 21: 29-33) How shall I live this Word?   A parable, taken from the fields, teaches and stimulates us to evaluate: “Look at the fig tree … learn!”. The parable is located precisely in this perspective. Ten virgins, a figure of the church called to present herself to Christ as a chaste virgin, take the lamps to go out to meet the Bridegroom, who comes to celebrate the eternal wedding with the whole of humanity. At the center of it all is a wedding banquet. A solemn wedding dinner to which we are all invited and is an image of the end of the world and of God’s...
