SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

 FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Sunday  June 3, 2018 Week Nine of Ordinary Time SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST  WORD of the DAY    While they were eating,  he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.”  Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it.  He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed  for many.   (Mark 14: 22-24)    How shall I live this Word? With moderation and incisive words, Jesus accomplishes a gesture of enormous importance: the institution of the Eucharist. This does not deal with a lovely walk in the fresh air and sunshine, but rather bringing believers into a divine environment where the greatest Mystery of Love reigns, that of the death and resurrection of Jesus. This love of God become human, bends His divine-human reality to the point of reducing it to the horror of a tortured body on the infamous Cross.  Now He hands over this sublime mystery to the reality of nourishment, simple but essential in human life, bread...
