Eighth Monday of Ordinary Time

 FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Monday  May 28, 2018 Week Eight of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to [the] poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”  At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.   (Mark 10: 17-27)  How shall I live this Word? To the rich young man, who has already lived a life according to the Law (he says he has kept the commandments since his youth: cf Mk 10: 20), Jesus proposes further progress in perfection: “Go, sell what you have and give it to the poor, and you will have a treasure inheaven, then come and follow me” but the young man, attached to his riches, does not accept the proposal. Like the rich young man, all of us – according to the specific vocation, which is different for each of us – are called to follow Jesus, not to attach ourselves to riches: Jesus sets His gaze on each of us and loves us.
