29th Tuesday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Tuesday October 23, 2018 Twenty-ninth Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. (Luke 12: 35-38)   How shall I live this Word? My heart cannot help but wait for someone.  I would not have the strength to face emotionally a single dark night, if I did not have the intimate certainty that the person I love is at the door, that next day my desires will be fulfilled, that light will follow darkness, the hope of spring in winter. How many nights dot our existence, how many trials, how many disappointments that seem to veil the horizon of good before us, almost to make it disappear! As believers we know we are moving in the darkness, we are not deluded, we do not let ourselves be dazzled by the colored and shimmering festoons of worldliness, as we travel towards the true light. Therefore we are blessed, because we see beyond, keep our spiritual senses awake, and are not content with “everything immediately”. I...
