THIRD MONDAY OF ADVENT

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD December 18, 2017 Third Monday of Advent WORD of the DAY O Sacred Lord of ancient Israel, who showed yourself to Moses in the burning bush, who gave him the holy law on Sinai mountain: Come, stretch out your mighty hand to set us free. (O Antiphon for Magnificat) How shall I live this Word? Lord, Adonai…the second Antiphon shows forth the essence of the Lord God.    He is a powerful Lord, the liberator, and He accompanies his people with His presence and with His Law. He is a Lord who directs, remains behind His people, and never loses sight of them.  The closeness of this Lord is such that He becomes human and leaves the imprint of Adonai on a baby.  Biblical memory is connected to the Exodus: Pasch, liberation, the desert journey, temptation and sin, redemption, the Promised Land.  These are the phases of the people’s history through which they grow and become aware of themselves.  These are phases similar in our life, made of ups and downs, of fidelity and infidelity, always accompanied by a presence of authority that helps us to get up again and gives meaning even to...
