Fourth Thursday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fourth Thursday of Ordinary Time February 6, 2020  WORD of the DAY  He summoned the Twelve  and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. (Mark 6: 7)   How shall I live this Word? The call of Jesus regarding the twelve Apostles is interesting. He sends them to preach the coming of God’s Kingdom and conversion.  What strikes us is the fact that Jesus gives them the power to cast out impure spirits and at the same time, orders them to take nothing for the trip, only a walking stick and poor garments, one tunic and sandals. For us, who often sink into false needs, especially studied by psychologists and psychoanalysts to grab the immediate desire for shopping and consumption, this order of Jesus speaks strongly to our hearts. Yes, Lord, with Your grace I can understand how useless it is to be weighed down by so much clothing to dress myself.  Today, You indicate to me freedom and joy.
