EASTER WEDNESDAY

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD EASTER WEDNESDAY April 15, 2020 WORD of the DAY As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.” (Luke 24: 28-31) How shall I live this Word? How beautiful and human is the figure of Jesus as He walks with the disciples and listens to them, accompanying them on the way! He could say or do something to console them and make their faith grow, but He makes believe nothing, as He seems to be continuing on His journey. He does not impose Himself but waits to be invited. He knows He has answered their questions. He knows that after this encounter they will not be as before, but He does not impose His presence. He...
