Fourth Tuesday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Tuesday, January 30, 2018 Week Four of Ordinary Time   WORD of the DAY   She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.”  Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.  Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who has touched my clothes?” … The woman, realizing what had happened to her, approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth.  He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”    (Mark 5: 28-30; 33-34) How shall I live this Word? The two miracles performed by Jesus and recounted in today’s Gospel, are found within each other because they have faith as the basis of what they have in common.  As Jesus is on His way to the house of Jairus to cure his daughter; He is surrounded by crowds of people.  An un-named woman, who has been suffering for many years from a flow of blood, tries to get close...
