Hear and Live God’s Word

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD THIRD THURSDAY of ADVENT December 17, 2020 WORD of the DAY  The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. (Matthew 1: 1) How shall I live this Word?   The family tree of Jesus allows us to know something more about Him and something more about us!  Jesus, says the Evangelist Matthew, is “the son of Abraham”. He is not only inserted in a family made up of relationships, names, and histories capable of identifying Him. He is the heir of generations of ‘believers’, children of Abraham precisely who, in a singular way, made the word of God visible and concrete in history. Jesus declares this very clearly to those who pointed out to Him that His family was present near the house where He was teaching: my mother and my brothers, He replied, are those who hear the Word and live it (cf. Mk 3:31 ). Basically, being children of Abraham means being men and women who are committed to knowing the Word in depth and, above all, to incarnating it, making it concrete and visible in history.
