29th Thursday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 29th Thursday of Ordinary Time October 24, 2019 WORD of the DAY I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! (Luke 12: 49) How shall I live this Word? Jesus addresses His disciples with passionate confidence using an ardent and luminous image: “I have come to set the earth on fire.” This expression communicates, through the metaphor of fire, a strong and attractive decision. The fire releases flames and movements that tell the reality of a life that is not stunted and poor, but splendid because it is bold and capable of flooding an environment with light and heat. I will never say that my love is like tepid water and without generous impulses; rather, I would strengthen my words so as not to weaken the power and vitality of true love. Lord, do not let my life as a Christian, a believer in You be dull and reduced to the ashes of habit.
