30 Wednesday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 30th Wednesday of Ordinary Time October 30, 2019 WORD of the DAY But I trust in your mercy. Grant my heart joy in your salvation, I will sing to the Lord, for he has dealt bountifully with me! (Psalm 12) How shall I live this Word? God is faithful. Fidelity to the word given, to the covenant, to the alliance, to duty, to love is a characteristic more divine than human because we are not always capable of this, we fear to commit ourselves totally, we fear the limitations that being faithful imposes, we do not want to easily jeopardize our time and our future. This is not how it is with God. God is faithful and “His fidelity endures forever” (Psalm 100). He promises that whoever “walks in my statutes, and keeps my rules by acting faithfully—is righteous and shall surely live, declares the Lord God” (cf. Ez 18: 9) because “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will also accomplish it” (1 Thes 5: 24). God is faithful because this is His essence: ‘forever’ is eternity and eternity is God’s space!
