29th Sunday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 29th Sunday of Ordinary Time October 20, 2019 WORD of the DAY The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”  (Luke 18: 6-8) How shall I live this Word? Jesus in his presence among us, wanted to emphasize and highlight the absolute need to pray on the part of those who say they believe. The protagonist of the parable is interesting: an ‘unjust judge’ who is annoyed by the request of the widow who insists on obtaining from him that justice be done to her. The character of the widow is true in her insistence thinking only of making the judge decide to listen to her. The two characters of the parable are outlined with very strong symbolic evidence. FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Second Saturday of Lent, March 23, 2019 WORD of the DAY So he got up and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son. But his father ordered his servants, ‘Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found. Then the celebration began. How shall I live this Word? This Gospel of the ‘spendthrift’ son has greatly stimulated artists of all times and places. Among the most known and loved, the pictorial work embraces is the Father of Rembrandt.
