Fifth Wednesday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Wednesday, February 13, 2019 WORD of the DAY But what comes out of a person, that is what defiles. From within people, from their hearts, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile. (Mark 7: 20-23) How shall I live this Word? The power of the Lord’s Word lies in reversing the weight given to our authentic human life. What we introduce into ourselves according to our appetite and tastes does not count. Instead, what is very important is that we take care of what dwells in our hearts as the Bible says. We will be judged by God not on our lovely words or grandiose actions that bring praise and glory, but on what we cultivate interiorly. Lord Jesus, keep ever lit in me the flame of a vigilant love. Grant that I may be authentic especially in my thoughts and inner feelings. From these guide me to live my daily life in absolute coherence between what I am and what I express and do during my day.
