Fifth Saturday of Lent

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fifth Saturday of Lent, March 24, 2018 WORD of the DAY  Now many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what He had done began to believe in him.   But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done… So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we going to do? This man is performing many signs.  If we leave him alone, all will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our land and our nation.”   (John 11: 45-48)   How shall I live this Word? By raising Lazarus Jesus reveals how much God is for life and is the Lord of life.  This sign generates faith in many people, while it creates fear in some.  Fear is the word that obstacles change, closes the heart, and creates alibis.  The Jews asked for signs but now they feel they need to defend themselves in the face of the many signs that require a choice.
