Second Wednesday of Easter Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Second Wednesday of EASTER TIME April 22, 2020 WORD of the DAY For God so loved the world that he gave* his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. (John 3: 16) How shall I live this Word? Nicodemus’ encounter with Jesus becomes ever more profound and revealing. If at the beginning the path of mutual understanding found obstacles in the different attribution of meanings to the same words, now the Teacher declares the ultimate goal of His presence as a human among human beings: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.” And this gift is the bearer of life itself. Here a Father who corrects and punishes is not called into question, but a Father who gives existence, who wants the fullness of a destiny of salvation for all. Nicodemus is enchanted and moved by it. These words of the Teacher will help him testify in His favor before the Sanhedrin.
