Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Sunday, February 10, 2019 WORD of the DAY But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective. Indeed, I have toiled harder than all of them; not I, however, but the grace of God [that is] with me. (1 Cor: 15: 10) How shall I live this Word? The way the great Apostle Paul speaks of himself is interesting and passionate. These are strong expressions, far from certain declarations of false humility in which the Christian in name (not in fact) asserts to be less than nothing. Here humility is truth. Lord, make me humble of heart like Paul. If there is something that is beautiful and good, useful to others, I do not want to deny it. However, make me honest and transparent. What is positive in me is Your continuous gift. Never allow me to claim it as mine, but rather thank You, Lord. Help me to use it for the good of others.
