Eighth Saturday of Ordinary Time

 FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Saturday  June 2, 2018 Week Eight of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ predicted.    But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,  and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.    (Jude 1: 17-21)  How shall I live this Word? First of all a basic explanation. Saint Jude has nothing to do with the unfortunate Judas who handed Jesus over to the hands of His crucifiers for 30 denarii.  He is the one who, elected later by the Apostles themselves, lived like them: of grace, of witness, of proclamation.  In this important passage, the verbs are most striking: all in the imperative, with an exhortative value, almost an affectionate fraternal invitation.
