Seventh Wednesday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Wednesday, February 27, 2019 WORD of the DAY John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. (Mark 9: 38-40) How shall I live this Word? Real Christians do not make their own creed a sect or a gathering of fanatics. Rather, they are ready to believe that the truth can sprout spontaneously even in those who are distant, in those who live a life far from one’s own ideas. Let us remember that the Spirit of truth arouses gleams of His power even among the pagans as happened with the centurion Cornelius (Acts 10), and that the Fathers speak of ‘seeds of the Word’ spread in all cultures and in all epochs.
