  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD November 30, 2017 34th Thursday in Ordinary Time       WORD of the DAY As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.  He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”   At once they left their nets and followed him. (Matthew 4: 18-20) How shall I live this Word? The Teacher’s call comes in our everyday life, in our usual tasks.  He does not need special effects to enhance His voice.  It immediately reaches the mind and heart.  A vocation is always a personal proposal, directed to approaching Him and following Him.  Sometimes, it is not immediately clear which road to follow.  However, it is always grafted in ordinary life, in the same gestures of every day, but with a change of perspective.  For Peter and Andrew, being fishermen meant to catch fish and kill them.  To become ‘fishers of men’ means for them and for us to be disciples of the Risen One, to fish for our sisters and brothers and...
