Fourth Friday of Easter

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fourth Friday of Easter, April 27, 2018 WORD of the DAY   Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.  In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places… I go and prepare a place for you. (John 14: 1-2)   How shall I live this Word? In the long farewell discourse, Jesus assures His disciples: “I am still with you”, and with infinite sweetness He hastens to reassure them so that His departure will not throw them into anxiety and despair: “I am going to prepare a place”.  And a little later, announcing the coming of the Paraclete, he adds: “It is good for you that I leave”. Going to the house of the Father, Jesus leads us to understand does not mean leaving this world to go to another: who could ever encounter Him if this were so? It is rather to overcome the limits, the conditioning of this world to be present in a different way – mysterious, if you will – but no less real, indeed, truer than before.
