Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Sunday, February 11, 2018 WORD of the DAY   The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. (Mark 1: 42) How shall I live this Word? The Gospel presents Jesus who cures a leper.  With His goodness and His omnipotence, the Savior restores health and human dignity to him (at that time lepers were excluded from civil society).  He showed His mercy and His compassion before a person with a sickness that was considered contagious.  Jesus feels close to suffering humanity and intervenes with a miracle to cure the sick person. Today, February 11, is the Day of the Sick.  We are invited to pray, and according to our possibilities, to help and assist our sick and marginalized sisters and brothers.  Today, Jesus has only our hands and our heart to aid the needy and He invites us to be generous and solicitous regarding them. Lord, You touched the hand of the leper and healed it.  Touch our hearts too, free us from egoism and indifference that leads us to close our eyes in the face of the evil present in the world.  You who live and reign forever and ever....
