CHRISTMAS EVE

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD FOURTH TUESDAY OF ADVENT CHRISTMAS EVE December 24, 2019 WORD of the DAY Then Zechariah his father, filled with the holy Spirit, prophesied, saying… because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and death’s shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” (Luke 1: 67/78-79) How shall I live this Word? Today’s Gospel presents us with the song of exultation of Zachariah who blesses “the God of Israel who visited and redeemed his people.” A feeling of joy and gratitude pervades the whole song: God did not forget His people, but intervened to save them. God is always present in our personal and community history and guides us towards justice and charity. Each of us is aware of having to collaborate in this realization, according to our abilities and possibilities.
