EASTER SATURDAY

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD EASTER SATURDAY, April 7, 2018 JESUS IS ACTS THROUGH US! WORD of the DAY  Whether it is right in the sight of God for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges.  It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.   (Acts 4: 20)   How shall I live this Word? Justice and obedience are the themes used by Peter to end his discourse in response to the intimidation of the Elders.  What is right?  To obey the law, the rules dictated by men or to obey God?  It is not Peter’s intention to say that we must never listen to what is said.  In fact, in his ears there will again resound that “Give to Caesar that which is Caesar’s” of Jesus. Obedience is given to what authentically helps us to be more in tune with God’s will and desires. In this case the spiral, already highlighted by the Elders, of violence, lies, corruption, intimidating threats, removes any doubt: this does not come from God; it is not according to God’s heart. It is therefore to be rejected, not to be listened...
