Fourth Saturday of Lent

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fourth Saturday of Lent, March 17, 2018 WORD of the DAY   Some in the crowd who heard these words said, “This is truly the Prophet.”   Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he?  Does not scripture say that the Messiah will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”  So a division occurred in the crowd because of him. (John 7: 40-43)   How shall I live this Word? Once again, Jesus creates dissent. Some accept Him and follow Him; there are those who even want to arrest Him. “But nobody puts hands on Him”. The guards come back saying that it was impossible for them to bring Him to the priests because: “Never a man spoke like this man speaks”. And even Nicodemus, with the wisdom of those who are not content with prejudices and who went to the Master at night to understand the mystery, advises to listen to Him better and to evaluate what He does. Two thousand years later in our society, the old dissent on the true nature of Christ is repeated....
