32nd Monday of Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Monday November 12, 2018 Thirty Second Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   He said to his disciples, “Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur.  It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.  Be on your guard!   If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him”  (Lk  17: 1-3)   How shall I live this Word? Jesus is a realist: He does not hide even from us that, since the world is “space-time” in which even the devil acts, the evil that causes scandal is also visible: acts of violence, of shamelessness, expressions of revenge or of power become arrogance and a source of injustice. Granted that in a world so beautiful, there is also ugliness, Jesus aims to keep awake in each of us our personal responsibility. “Be aware of yourself” – says the Lord – after giving a warning that is anything but sweet.
